Christmas in Hollis

It was December twentyfourth on Hollis Ave.

in the dark, when I seen a man chillin' with his dog in the park.

I approached him very slowly with my heart full of fear,

looked at his dog:

oh my god, an ill reindeer.

But (Eb5)then I was illin' 'cause that (Dbsus)man had a beard and a (Eb)bag full of goodies.

Twelve o'clock had neared, so I (Eb5)turned my head a second and the was gone,

but he (Eb)must've dropped his wallet smack dead on the lawn.

I (Eb5)picked the wallet up and then I (Dbsus)took a pause,

took out the (Eb5)license and it cold said,

"Santa Claus."

A (Eb5)million dollars in it, cold (Dbsus)hundreds of Gs,

(Eb)enough to buy a boat, matching car with ease.

But I'd (Eb5)never steal from Santa,

'cause (Dbsus)that ain't right, so I was (Eb)going home to mail it back to him that night.

But when I (Eb5)got home, I bugged 'cause (Dbsus)under the tree was a (Eb)letter from Santa,

and the dough was for me!

(Eb5)It's Christmas time in Hollis, Queens.

Mom's cookin' chicken and collard greens,

rice and (Eb5)stuffing, macaroni and cheese;

and Santa put gifts under Christmas trees.

Decorate the (Eb5)house with lights at night;

snow's on the ground, snow white,

so bright.

In the (Eb5)fireplace is the yule log beneath the mistletoe as we drink eggnog.

The (Eb5)rhymes that you hear are the of Darryl's,

but each and ev'ry year we bust Christmas carols.

(Eb5)Rhymes so loud and proud, you hear it.

It's (Eb)Christmastime and we got the spirit.

(Eb5)Jack Frost chillin', the is out,

and that's what Christmas is all about.

The (Eb5)time is now, the is here,

and the (Eb)whole wide world is filled with cheer.

My name's D.

M. C.

with the mic in my hand,

and I'm chillin' and coolin', just like a snowman.

So open your eyes, lend us an ear;

we wanna say, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"
