When I First Saw You

When I first saw (C)you, I said,

(G)"Oh my."

I said "Oh my, that's a (D)dream,

(Em7)that's a (D)dream."

I (Em7)needed a dream when it all seemed to go (D)bad.

(G)Then I (D)found you,

(Em7)and I have had the most beautiful dreams (G)any man ever had.

When I first (D)saw (C)you, I said,

(G)"Oh my, oh my, that's my (D)dream,

(Em7)that's (D)my dream."

I (Em7)needed a dream to (D)make (Em7)me (D)strong.

(Em7)You were the only reason I've had to go (G)on.

(A)You are my dream, (G)all the things I never knew.

(Em7)You are my dream.

(G)Who could believe they could (A)ever (Gmaj7)come (A)true?

And (Em7)who could believe (D)the world would believe in (A)my (Asus)dreams,

(A)too? There comes a (G)time when the child's got to (A)grow.

There comes a (D)time when the (E)woman's got to go.

Mama (G)said I am special.

She said I've got to (A)prove I am (D)just as good.

I'm even (G)better than.

That's what she would say.

Shine, Deena, (A)shine.

(G)Shine, Deena, (A)shine.

And (G)I'm gonna shine.

(G)No, I've got dreams of my own,

(F#m7)dreams you've never known.

(G)never take my (A)dream from me.

When I first (D)saw (C)you, I said,

(G)"Oh my, (Gm)oh my.

That's my dream."
