The Gospel

A (Eb)restless generation, we're (Fm)turning over ev'ry (Cm)stone,

(Ab)hoping to find salvation in a (Cm)world that's left us (Bb)cold.

Can we (Eb)get back to the altar,

back to the (Fm)arms of our first (Cm)love?

There's only (Ab)one way to the Father,

and He's (Cm)calling out to us.

(Bb)To the (Ab)captive it looks like freedom,

to the (Cm)orphan it feels like (Eb)home.

To the (Ab)skeptic it might sound crazy to believe (Cm)in a God who (Eb)loves.

In a world (Fm)where our hearts are (Cm)breaking,

and we're lost (Bb)in the mess we've (Eb)made,

like a (Ab)blinding light in the dead (Cm)of night,

it's the (Bb)Gospel, the Gospel that makes a (Eb)way.

(Fm)It's the (Cm)Gospel that makes a (Ab)way.

(Bb)It's the (Eb)cure for our condition,

it's the (Fm)Good News for us (Cm)all.

It's (Ab)greater than religion, it's the (Cm)power of the cross.

(Bb)So, can we (Eb)get back to the altar,

back to the (Fm)arms of our first (Cm)love?

There's only (Ab)one way to the Father,

and He's (Cm)calling out to (Bb)us.

To the (Cm)capIt's the (Bb)Gospel that makes a (Eb)way.

(Cm)It's the (Bb)Gospel that makes a (Absus2)way.

(Eb)The amazing news of the Gospel is not (Ab)that we can receive Jesus into our lives,

(Eb)In my own (Ab)life it means forgiveness when I know (Cm)I deserve the (Eb)fall.

It (Abmaj7)called me out of my darkness and (Cm)carried me to the (Eb)cross.

In a (Fm)moment my eyes were (Cm)opened,

in that (Bb)moment my heart was (Eb)changed.

Like a (Ab)blinding light in the dead (Cm)of night,

it's the (Bb)Gospel.

Oh, to the (Ab)captive it looks like freedom,

to the (Cm)orphan it feels like (Eb)home.

Yeah, to the (Ab)skeptic it might sound crazy to believe (Cm)in a God who (Eb)loves.

In a world (Fm)where our hearts are (Cm)breaking,

and we're lost (Bb)in the mess we've (Eb)made,

like a (Abmaj7)blinding light in the dead (Cm)of night,

it's the (Bb)Gospel, the Gospel that makes a (Eb)way.

(Fm)It's the (Cm)Gospel that makes a (Ab)way.

(Cm)It's the (Bb)Gospel that makes a (Eb)way.

Oh, (Fm)oh, it's the (Cm)Gospel that makes a (Ab)way.
