The Best Day

I'm five years old, it's getting cold,

I've got my (A)big coat on.

(D)You I hear your laugh and look up,

smilin' at you.

I (A)run and run

(D)past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides.

Look now, far the (A)sky is gold.

(D)And I hug your legs and fall asleep forgotten on (A)the way home.

(G)I don't know why I'm all the trees change (A)in the fall.

(G)But I know you're not scared of (D)anything at all.

(G)Don't know if Snow White's house is near or (A)far (Bm)away.

But I know I had the best day with you

today.

(D)I'm thirteen now and don't know how my friends could (A)be so mean.

(D)You I come home cryin' and you hold me tight you're and (A)grab the keys.

(D)And we drive and drive un the til we found a town and (A)enough away.

(D)And we talk and window shop till I've dy got in the (A)all their names.

(G)I don't know who I'm gonna talk to (A)now at school.

(G)I I know I'm in' side,

the (D)car ride home with you.

(G)Don't know how long it's gonna take to (A)feel o k.

(Bm)But I know I had the best day with you

today.

(G)I have an excellent father,

(Bm)his strength is makin' me stronger.

(G)God smiles on my little brother.

(Bm)Inside and out he's better than I (G)am.

I grew up in a pretty house and I had space to run.

And I had

the best days with you.

(Bm)And I (G)love you for givin' (A)me your (D)eyes,

stayin' (A)back and watchin' me shine.

And (G)I didn't know if you knew,

so I'm takin' this (A)chance to say that I had the best day with you

today.
