Somebody's Hero

Ah.

(Am)She's never pulled anybody from a (G5)burning building.

(Am)She's never rocked Central Park to (G5)a half a million fans screamin' out her name.

She's (C)never hit a shot to win the game.

(Am)She's never left her footprints (G5)on the moon.

(Am)She's never made a solo (G5)hot air balloon ride around the world.

No, she's just your ev'ryday av'rage girl.

But, (C)she's (G)somebody's hero;

a hero to her baby with a skinnedup knee,

a (Am)little kiss is all she needs.

The (G)keeper of the Cheerios;

the voice that brings Snow White to life,

looks bed time stories ev'ry night.

And that (F)smile lets her know:

she's somebody's (Am7)hero.

(G5)Oh. (Am)She didn't get a check ev'ry week like a (G5)ninetofiver,

(Am)but she's been a waiter and a cook and (G5)a taxi driver for twenty years there at home,

until the day her girl was grown.

(Am)Giving all her love to her was (G5)her life's ambition;

(Am)but now her baby's moving on,

and she'll (G5)soon be missing her.

But not today;

those are tears of joy running down her face.

(C)she's somebody's (D)hero.

Thirty years have flown right past.

Her daughter's staring at all the photographs of her mother,

and she wishes she could be like that.

(G)Oh, but she already is.

(C)She's (G)somebody's hero, a hero to her mother in a rocking chair.

She (Am)runs a brush through her silver hair.

The (G)envy of the nursing home,

(C)she drops by ev'ry afternoon, feeds her mama with a spoon,

and that (F)smile lets her know,

(C)her mother's smile lets her know:

she's somebody's hero.
