Lyrics
(F)Promises, (G)promises, (Em7)I'm all through with (Bb)promises,
(C)promises, (Am7)now!
I don't know (Gm7)how I got the nerve to walk (Fmaj7)out.
If I (Bbmaj7)shout, remember I feel free.
(Abmaj7)Now I can look at (Ab9)myself and be (Gm7)proud.
I'm (C9)laughing out (Fmaj7)loud!
Oh, (F)promises, (G)promises, (Em7)this is where those (Bb)promises,
(C)promises, (Am7)end!
I won't (Gm7)pretend that what was wrong can be (Fmaj7)right.
Ev'ry (Bbmaj7)night I'll sleep now.
No more lies.
(Abmaj7)Things that I promised (Ab9)myself fell (Gm7)apart,
but (C9)I found my (Fmaj7)heart.
Oh,
(F)Promises, (G)their kind of (Bb)promises (C)can just destroy your (Am7)life.
Oh, (F)promises, (G)those kind of (Bb)promises (C)take all the joy from (Am7)life!
Oh, (F)promises, (G)promises, (Bb)my kind of (C)promises
can lead to (Fmaj7)joy and (F6/9)hope and (Cm7)love,
yes, (Amaj7)love.
