Plant Life

(Am)I saw a (Cmaj7)ghost on the stairs,

and (Am)sheets on the (Cmaj7)tables and chairs.

The (Am)silverware (Cmaj7)swam with the sharks in the sink;

even so, I don't know what to think.

(Dm)I've been (Am)longing (G)for

(Fmaj7)daisies to push through the floor.

(G)And (Dm)I wish (Am)plant life would (Bb)grow all around me so I won't feel dead anymore,

(F)so (Eb)I won't feel (Bb)dead anymore.

(Am7)I saw a bear in the den

reading my textbooks again.

The bats flowed like (G)traffic as they (F)poured from the attic.

Heaven knows, I could realy use a friend!

(C)I'd rather waltz than just walk through the forest.

The trees keep the tempo, and they sway in time.

Quartet of (G)crickets chime in for the chorus.

If (Dm)I were to pluck on your heartstrings,

would you strum on mine?

(F)Your (Dm)spirit is (Eb)sweet,

so (Bb)pull off your sheet

and (Ab)give me a ghost of a smile.

(Dm7)Show me your teeth, 'cause your a (Bb)teddy beneath;

so (Ab)just grin and (Eb)bear it awhile,

(Eb)just grin and (Bb)bear it awhile.

(Bb)I'd rather waltz than just walk through the forest.

The trees keep the tempo, and they sway in time.

Quartet of (F)crickets chime in for the chorus.

If (Cm)I were to pluck on your heartstrings,

would you strum on mine?

(Gm)The brook er babbles on about nothing at all.

(Gm)An other leaf turns over, unwilling to fall.

(F)(Cm)Tonight, I'm (Bb)busting (F)out

of (Dm)this old (C)haunted (G)house,

'cause I'm (Cm)sick of (Bb)waiting (F)for all those (Dm)(C)spiderwebs to (Bb)grow all around me;

'cause I don't feel dead anymore,

and (Eb)I'm not (Gm7)afraid anymore.

(Bb)I'd rather waltz than just walk through the forest.

The trees keep the tempo, and they sway in time.

Quartet of (F)crickets chime in for the chorus.

If (Cm)I were to pluck on your heartstrings,

would you strum on mine?
