Pieces of April

April gave us (Cmaj7)springtime,

(F)and a promise of the (C)flowers;

and a feeling that we (F)both shared,

and a love that we called (G7)ours.

And we knew no time for (C)(F)sadness,

that's a road we each had (C)crossed.

(C)And we were living a time (Dm7)meant for us,

(G7)and even when it would rain,

we'd (C)laugh it off.

And I've got pieces of (Em7)April (Dm7)that I keep in a (G7)memory (C)bouquet.

I've got pieces of April,

(Dm7)and it's a (G7)morning in (C)May.

(G7)We stood on the crest of (Cmaj7)summer,

(F)beneath an oak of blossomed (C)green;

feelin' as I did in (F)April;

not really knowin' just what it (G7)means.

But it must be then that stands (C)beside me now,

(F)to make me feel this (C)way;
