Once Upon A Time

(C)Once upon a (Cmaj7)time (C6)a (C)girl with (Am)moonlight in her eyes

(F)put her hand in (C)mine and said she loved me (Fmaj7)so.

(Dm)But (F)that (G7)was (Am)once upon a time,

(G7)very long (C)ago.

(Cmaj7)Once upon a hill (C6)we (C)sat (Am)beneath a willow tree,

(F)counting all the (C)stars and waiting for the (Fmaj7)dawn.

(Dm)But (F)that (G#dim7)was (Am)once upon a (G7)time.

Now the tree is (Cmaj7)gone.

(Dm7)(C6)How (G7)the (Cmaj7)beeeze (Dm7)(C6)ruffled (G7)through her (Cmaj7)hair,

(Bm7)how we (E7)always (Am)laughed as (Am7)though (G7)tomorrow wasn't there.

We were (C)young and (G7)didn't have a (C)care.

(D9)Where did it (G7)go?

(Cmaj7)Once upon a (C6)time the (C)world was (Am)sweeter than we knew.

(F)Ev'rything was (C)ours,

how happy we were (F)then.

(Dm)But (F)(G#dim7)somehow (Am)once upon a (Fmaj7)time

(G7sus)never (G7)comes (C)again.

(C)Once upon a (Cmaj7)time (C6)it (C)seemed the (Am)world was painted gold.

(F)And there was a (C)man,

and oh, I loved him (Fmaj7)so.

(Dm)The (F)world (G7)was (Am)beautiful to see

(G7)very long (C)ago.

(Cmaj7)On a night like this (C6)we (C)saw the (Am)rising of the moon.

(F)All the silver (C)stars like necklaces were (Fmaj7)strung.

(Dm)We (F)spoke (G#dim7)of (Am)such important things.

(G7)We were very (Cmaj7)young.

(Dm7)(C6)(G7)Open (Cmaj7)hearts, (Dm7)(C6)nothing (G7)to (Cmaj7)conceal;

(Bm7)ev'ry (E7)little (Am)thought was (Am7)so (G7)exciting to reveal.

All our (C)dreams we (G7)knew would soon be (C)real.

(D9)Where did they (G7)go?

(Cmaj7)Once upon a time (C6)the (C)world was (Am)sweeter than we knew.

(F)Ev'rything was (C)ours,

how happy we were (F)then.

(Dm)But (F)(G#dim7)somehow (Am)once upon a time

(G7sus)never (G7)comes (C)again.
