Malibu

(Ab)I never came to the beach,

or stood by the ocean.

(Cm)I never sat by the (Db)shore,

under the (Cm)sun with my feet in the (Db)sand,

but you brought me here,

and I'm happy that you did,

'cause now I'm as free

as birds catching the wind.

(Ab)I always thought I would sink,

so I never swam.

I (Cm)never went boating, don't get (Db)how they are floating,

and (Cm)sometimes I get so (Db)scared of what I can't (Fm)understand.

(Bbm)But here I (Ab)am,

(Cm)next to (Fm)you,

(Bbm)the sky is (Ab)more blue

(Cm)in (Fm)Malibu.

(Bbm)Next to (Ab)you

(Cm)in (Fm)Malibu,

(Bbm)next to (Ab)you.

(Ab)We watch the sun go down as we're walking.

I'd spend the rest of my life just standing here talking.

You explain the current as I just smile,

(Cm)hoping that you'll stay the (Db)same and nothing will (Cm)change,

and it'll be (Db)us, just for a (Ab)while.

Do we even exist?

That's when I make the wish

to swim away with the fish.

Is it s'posed to be this hot all summer long?

(Cm)I never would have (Db)believed you if three years (Cm)ago,

you told me I'd be (Db)here writing this (Fm)song.

(Bbm)But here I am,

(Cm)next to (Fm)you,

(Bbm)the sky is (Ab)so blue

(Cm)in (Fm)Malibu.

(Bbm)Next to (Ab)you

(Cm)in (Fm)Malibu,

(Bbm)next to (Ab)you.

(Ab)Ah,

(Db)ah.

(Fm)Ah,
