Lost in the Stars

(G)Before Lord (Edim7)God made the (D7)sea and the land,

He (G)held all the (E7)stars in the (Am)palm of His (Cm)hand,

and they (G)ran through His (C6)fingers like (G)grains of sand,

and one little (Gdim)star fell (D7)alone.

Then the (G)Lord God (Edim7)hunted through the (D7)wide night air for the (G)little dark (E7)star on the (Am)wind down (Cm)there,

and He (G)stated and (C6)promised He'd (G)take special care so it (Gm6)wouldn't get (Cm6)lost (D7)(G)again.

Now a (Cm7)man don't (Eb7)mind if the (Bb)stars grow (Gm7)dim and the (Ebm)clouds blow over and (Gm)darken him,

so (Cm7)long as the (Eb7)Lord God's (Bb)watching over (Gm)them,

keeping (Ebm)track how it (F7)all goes (E7)on.

(D7)But (G)I've been (Edim7)walking through the (D7)night and the day till my (G)eyes get (E7)weary and my (Am)head turns (Cm6)gray,

and (G)sometimes it seems maybe (Cm6)God's gone away,

(G)forgetting the promise that we (Cm6)heard

Him say.

(D)And we're (C)lost out (G)here in the stars,

(Em7)little stars, (Eb7)big stars, (G)blowing through the (C#dim7)night,
