I Believe

In a (Am)land far away, time stood still long ago.

There were shepherds in fields, or at least this is how the story goes,

(F)the story goes.

(Am)Woman with child, and an inn with no room.

There were Born in a manger,

foretelling a tomb.

the This is how (F)the story goes.

(C)But it's more than a fable,

and it's more than a fairytale,

and (Dm7)more than my mind (C)can (Gsus)conceive.

I (Eb)believe the (Cm)wise men (Bb)saw the (Fm)baby boy the angels called the Son of (Abmaj7)God.

(Fm)Heaven's (Eb)Child, the (Cm)great I (Bb)AM,

(Fm)born to take away my sin through nail pierced (Abmaj7)hands.

(Eb)Emmanuel (Abmaj7)has (Bbsus)come,

(Bb)I (Am)believe.

(Am)Two thousand years, still the story lives on.

God's gift to us, sent to earth wrapped in flesh,

His only Son,

(F)His only Son.

(Em)And the (Fsus2)heartbeat of heaven (Am7)confounded our wisdom,

but it's (Dm7)still the simple truth that set me (Gsus)free.

I (Eb)believe the wise men saw the baby boy the angels called the (Bb)Son of (Abmaj7)God.

(Fm)Heaven's (Eb)Child, the great I AM,

(Bb7)born to take away my sin through nail pierced (Ab)hands.

(Eb)Emmanuel (Ab)has (Bbsus)come, (Bb)and I (Abmaj9)believe.

Precious Child, how (Eb)can it (Bb)be (Eb)that

(Abmaj9)God's great plan for (Eb)(Bb)history (Eb)would (Abmaj9)send You to the (G)lonely (Bb)tree,

(Cm)that (Ab)You would come for (Bbsus)one like me?

I (F)believe in a (C)cross.

I believe He came for one,

He came for all.

Heaven's (F)Child became a (C)Man,

gave His (Dm)life for me in spite of all I (Bb)am.

I (F)believe.

(Dm)I (F)believe, (Bb)oh, I (F)believe.

(Dm)Christmas (Fmaj7)lives (Bb)in (Csus)me.

I (Dm)believe.
