He Made a Way in a Manger

(A)Longing for a Savior, a (E)hopeless world would wait.

as (D)Sin demanded justice at a (E)price we could not pay.

But (A)God displayed His mercy, the (E)greatest gift of love:

when (A)we could not reach heaven,

lay (E)heaven came to us.

(E)He made a way in a manger,

a (B)way through the Son,

(A)Messiah, the Promised, before (F#m7)time had begun.

(B)For (A)God so loved this world,

though He (C#m7)knew what love would cost,

(F#)He made a way in a (E)manger (Asus2)to make a (E)way (B)to the (Amaj9)cross.

(Asus2)In (A)Bethlehem, a stable (E)became a throne of grace,

as (D)God Himself, our Savior, drew a (E)near to take our place.

His (A)mother smiled in wonder as (E)shepherds stood in awe;

the (A)sacrifice of heaven lay (E)sleeping in the straw.

(E)He made a way in a manger,

a (B)way through the Son,

(A)Messiah, the Promised, before (F#m7)time had begun.

(B)For (A)God so loved this world,

though He (C#m7)knew what love would cost,

(F#)He made a way in a (E)manger (Asus2)to make a (E)way (B)to the (Amaj9)cross.

(Asus2)In (E)cross.

(A)He is the Life who died our (E)death.

The (F#m7)precious Lord (E)Jesus

(Cmaj7)laid (D)down His sweet head.

Away in a (E)manger, no (A)crib for a (E)bed,

the (F#m7)little Lord (E)Jesus lay (A)down His sweet (C#m)head.

(B)The (E)stars in the sky looked (A)down where He (E)lay,

the (F#m7)little Lord (E)Jesus (A)asleep (B7)on the (A)hay.

He made a way (Amaj9)cross.
