Eastside

When I was young, (E)I fell in (A)love.

We used to hold hands, man,

that was (E)enough.

(F#m)Then we grew up, (E)started to touch,

used to (D)kiss underneath the light on the back of the bus.

(F#m)Oh, no, your daddy didn't (E)like me (A)much,

and he (D)didn't believe me when I said you were the (E)one.

(F#m)Oh, ev'ry day, (E)she found a (A)way out of the (D)window to sneak out late.

She used to meet me on the (F#m)Eastside,

in the (E)city where (A)the sun don't (D)set.

And ev'ry (E)day you know that (F#m)we'd ride through the back (E)streets in (A)a blue (D)Corvette.

Baby, you know (E)I just wanna (F#m)leave tonight,

(A)we can go (D)anywhere we want.

Drive down to the (F#m)coast, jump in the (E)seat,

(A)just take my (D)hand and come with me,

yeah. (F#m)We can do anything (E)if we put (A)our minds to it.

(D)Take your old life, then you put a (E)line through it.

(F#m)My love is yours if you're (E)willing to (A)take it.

(D)Give me your heart 'cause I ain't gonna break it.

(F#m)So, come away, (E)starting (A)today.

Start a (D)new life together in a different place.

We know that (F#m)love is how all these ideas (E)came to (A)be.

So, baby, (D)run away with (E)me.

(F#m)Seventeen, and (E)we got a dream to have a (D)family,

a house and ev'rything in between.

And then, (F#m)oh, suddenly we (E)turned twentythree (A)and now we got (D)pressure for taking our life more seriously.

We got our (F#m)deadend jobs and got bills to (A)pay.

(D)Our old friends are now our enemies.

(E)And now I, (F#m)I'm thinking back,

to (E)when I was young, back to the (D)day when I was falling in love.

He used to meet me on the

(F#m)Run away now, (E)run (A)away now,

(D)run away now.

(F#m)Run away now, (E)run (A)away now,

(D)run away now.

He used to (E)meet me on the (F#m)Eastside.

(D)She used to (E)meet me on the (F#m)Eastside.

(D)He used to (E)meet me on the (F#m)Eastside.

(D)She used to (E)meet me on the (F#m)Eastside,

in the (E)city where the (A)sun don't (D)set.
