Do They Know It's Christmas?

(C)It's (F)Christmastime, there's no need to (C)be afraid.

At (F)Christmastime, we let in (G)light and we (C)banish shade.

And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of (F)joy.

Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime.

(C)But say a (F)prayer,

(G)to pray for the (C)other ones

at (F)Christmastime.

It's (G)hard, but when you're (C)having fun there's a (F)world outside your window,

and it's a (C)world of dread and fear where the (Dm7)only water (G)flowing is the (C)bitter sting of (F)tears.

And the (Dm7)Christmas bells that ring there

are the (C)clanging chimes of doom.

Well, (Dm7)tonight thank God it's them instead of (C)you.

(C)And there (F)won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime.

The greatest gift they'll (G)get this year is life.

Oh, (Dm)(C)where (F)nothing ever grows, no (C)rain or rivers flow,

(Dm7)do they know it's (F)Christmastime at (C)all?

(Am)Here's to you, raise a (G)glass for ev'ryone;

(Am)here's to them (G)underneath that burning sun.

(F)Do they know it's Christmastime at (C)all?

(C)Feed the world,

(F)let them (Am)know it's (Dm7)Christmastime a (C)(gain.)

the world, (F)let them (Am)know it's (Dm7)Christmastime (C)again.
